Our Stories

Hi, I'm Katie. I am currently working at The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Jeremy and I have two sweet little girls, Maddie and Gracie. They will be our tiniest campers! I met Emily through a LifeGroup and we became good friends. I grew up attending camps and always loved the way that they strengthened my relationship with Jesus. I feel as though God has called me to pour into and build up the next generation and what better way to do it then spend a few days playing silly games?! We started Camp Bara in 2014 with the help of lots of generous donors and a great Christian community of support. We asked the campers what they would like to see done differently at camp and the only response was, "can it be longer next year?". The second year we decided to ask some of our Switch (Life.Church’s youth group) students, that are exceptional leaders, to attend Camp Bara as staff. This was an amazing decision that all of the campers loved. Each year we gain experience and grow in our relationships with Jesus. I am so excited to see what this year has to offer! I cannot wait to meet the campers!

Hi, I'm Emily. I work at American Fidelity and I adopted 2 amazing girls May 2021, Kaitlyn and Kiyah. After doing my Chazown through Life.Church, I knew that God was calling me to raise up the next generation of leaders and encourage them to be the people that He created them to be. Camp Bara has been a huge blessing. Going on our tenth year, we've seen so much support, answered prayers, and irrational generosity. Each camper is special to me and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store. I am praying that God continues to direct our steps, pour out His blessings, and show us His faithfulness in ways we can't even ask, think, or imagine. Our main goal is to show each camper who they are in Jesus, how they can show His love to others, and help the world see His glory. Since you're asking, I think my favorite part about Camp Bara is the way the girls let down their guards, open up, and really encourage each other. It doesn't matter who's popular, good at sports, or can draw the best. They all have a great time and really bring out the best in each other. This year is going to be great, and I so hope that your daughter will be a part of it.
